======================================================================== Readme for SerCfg ======================================================================== Description ----------- SerCfg allows you to tell WingMan Software on which serial ports it should look for devices. You can also completely disable the serial part of the driver by telling it to not scan on any of your serial ports. Serial ports are traditionally a difficult matter. Setting them up can be a pain, and when you have them operational, you might experience interference between different system components trying to access them. WingMan Software comes with support for some serial game controllers, notably WingMan Force Serial, WingMan Formula Force Serial, and WingMan Warrior. At boot-up, it looks for these controllers. By default, it tries to locate them on any of your serial ports. This behavior can cause problems with some devices (WinModems, some mice, some serial ports) which are not detectable by the driver. Why should I disable some ports for WingMan Software? ----------------------------------------------------- You might not own a WingMan controller with serial interface, or you might not be using the serial interface because you already moved to USB (for WingMan Force and Formula Force), and speed up the boot process a little. You might be experiencing problems with your modem or other serial device. Usage ----- 1. Launch SerCfg. 2. SerCfg will list all ports which are being scanned with the current setup. 3. Un-check or check the ones you want to have included in the scanning process. You can also hit "Autoselect Serial Ports", and SerCfg presets the checkboxes with a sensible default. 4. If you want to completely disable serial port scanning, click on "Disable Serial Detection" to unselect all ports. 5. Click OK to make the changes to scanning behavior. This will take effect on the next bootup, or when you add a serial device in the current session. Known issues ------------ To make the changes active, the serial driver has to be unloaded and re-loaded again. This happens during a reboot, or when you remove all WingMan Serial devices from Game Controllers, and then add them again. Alternatively, you can use LWTest.exe's function "Clean Detect". LWTest.exe is located in the folder where you installed your WingMan Software.
