Aidan, I'm pretty sure it's a pot problem also. I've tried removing my sound card, the tv tuner card, set up the BIOS according to usbman, but still get a spiking wheel. I notified Logitech tech support, also. Thanks for your help.

Based on your description I think it could be a problem with the wheel pot? it could explain the jumps in report values in poswdm, and the strange spring behaviour. But to be honest I cannot image exactly the failure that mode that could cause this...I'll check with our QA team if they want to do soem more follow up with you.
You could remove the possibility of a USB related problem (or confirm that you have a not so good USB set up!) by looking at www.usbman.com

Hi, I have a Wingman Formula Force GP USB and I've noticed some weird behaviour in every program that I've used it with. Sometimes when turning, it seems like the wheel doesn't pick it up, because there is no resistance from the natural center spring. This happens sometimes when turning the wheel left a certain amount or right about 45 degrees, but mostly it is random. I've downloaded Poswdm and when looking at the results, sometimes turning the wheel full left lock results in values of 1800 or 25638, or other crazy values until I let go of the wheel a little bit and then the numbers reset and force spring kicks back in again. It happens in Colin McRae 2.0 and Rally Trophy also. In the cockpit view where you can see the wheel, I will be turning the wheel (in real life), but the screen's wheel won't turn at all. This happens sometimes, not all the time. I can feel it too because there is no resistance from force centering. Then, maybe after a while, of turning the wheel back and forth, the force spring kicks in again. Its like the wheel doesnt register movements. Is this a defect of the wheel or USB or... ??? I am running WinXP, have tried Wingman 4.20 drivers (multiple times with clean installs) and without drivers, I still get the same jerky responses.
Sorry for the long post, but I'm wondering if I should return the wheel, its impossible to drive!
Thanks,
Tin
